The Howard Frankland Bridge project has been named a regional winner in the Operations Excellence – Large Project category of the 2026 America’s Transportation Awards, presented by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).

The recognition advances the project to the next round of the national competition, where three projects from each region will be selected to form the Top 12 National Finalists. Those finalists will compete for the Grand Prize, selected by an independent panel of judges, and the People’s Choice Award, determined through public online voting. Both national winners will be announced at AASHTO’s annual meeting in November 2026 in Louisville, Kentucky. Each winning project will receive $10,000 to donate to a scholarship fund or charitable organization of its choice.

Greg Cangelosi, Southern Regional Manager at Traylor, shared the following sentiment regarding this recognition:

“Operations Excellence is a just award to all those who worked on this project and reflective of the excellent team assembled…I am very proud to have been able work alongside all of [them].”

Traylor is proud to have played a role in delivering this important project alongside our partners, with Ballard Marine Construction and Triad Fabricators also contributing their expertise to the effort. We congratulate the entire team on this well-deserved recognition.
